Mooloolaba Pick anchors, or ‘Reef Picks’ are similar to the traditional reef anchors.

 

Design: Mooloolaba Picks have a distinctive design characterised by a long, slender shaft with four acute triangular flukes and a shackle loop at both end of the anchor.

 

Material: Made from galvanised steel for strength, durability and corrosion resistance.

 

Versatility: The Mooloolaba Pick works very well on reefy bottoms, or rocky rubble bottoms.

This anchor works best when the anchor chain is shackled to the head of the anchor, with the chain running along the shaft and secured at the other end of the anchor with a biodegradable tie.

In the event of the anchor being difficult to release from the bottom, simply give the anchor line a sharp pull to break the tie and the anchor will then be easily retrieved from the head end.

It is also recommended to use double the usual length of anchor rode for best results.

 

Maintenance: Like all anchors, Mooloolaba Picks require regular inspection and maintenance to ensure they remain in good working order and to prevent corrosion.
